One time when I was a young teenager
I felt the earth move beneath me.
I was laying on the grass late at night,
concentrating very hard
until I could feel it.

I felt the whole globe spinning in the universe,
like an awestruck star.
You would have thought I would feel small.
But I felt as big as the sky.
These are the gifts God gives the young.

One time when I was pushing forty
I felt the heavens move above me.
I was sitting on the couch late at night.
And God revealed Himself to me
until I could feel it.

I felt my Creator watching me, lovingly, wisely;
perfect beings looking me right in the eye.
You would have thought i would feel big.
But I felt as small as a bug.
These are the gifts God gives the born-again.
