As I fall asleep I slide into the hypnogogic state.
Jesus and I begin to play sleepy time games.
I try to find Him in silky sheets of consciousness.
I try to connect my mind to His so I can feel His
sweet comeliness; His never-ending Heaven.

But He is slippery like rainbow glycerine bubbles
burst on your kitchen floor.
I pounce on Him like a kitten with a ball of silly string.
Thwarted again! O Lord! I am at Your loving mercy!
I want to run in Your fields, swim with Your dolphins,
fly with Your birds.
All i ask is that You take me with You.
Just take me with You.

As I fall into reading the bible,
like wrapping myself in God's blanket.
Jesus wants me to take this seriously.
So I try to find Him in the thin sheets of this book.
I find His humanity teaching us how He is our wildly beautiful God.

But Oh this bible is rock solid.
Especially when you don't understand it.
I pounce on it like a puppy into a dog catcher's net.
Thwarted again! O Lord! I am at Your loving mercy!
I want to run in Your fields, swim with Your dolphins,
fly with Your birds.
All i ask is that You take me with You.
Just take me with You.
