"New
America"
by
Willie Bee
Shadows
of wings of missile-clad, gray,
military aircraft
fly
across the wet reflections of my human
on the
shower floor.
I
sigh at what they’re there for.
The
radio spews, "DespiKable acts"
and
"hunt down and punish"
from
witch-hunter, defiant lips, positioned
upon
a red, white and blue,
used as a separation
symbol
on the planet termed, "Earth."
I
sigh at what my leader says.
Falling
water and tears of saddening misery
for the tragedy
of my fellow human beings, mothers, brothers, sisters,
fathers, friends, lovers, who clawed like lab rats
at
a clear cell wall to break free
from their souls.
I
sigh at what my fellow human beings
did to them.
Jump
out of the shower shadows.
Flush the radio waste.
Dry off the pain.
And open the dusty, forgotten
chest
and pull the wings of ago out of time.
Lace
them on. Stop sighing.
Start screaming.
I
shout out the timeless,
borrowed lyrics of hope:
"Love
NOT war!"
"Give Peace a Chance!"
