whoa, this is atypical

I’m watching ‘National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation’. At least I’m assuming that’s what it’s called, in the grand tradition. I heard a radio announcer say that it’s the greatest holiday movie. It’s not even one I would have considered or thought of for the season of must see movies, though I do watch it when it’s on. I can’t check to see what it’s called because there was a scheduling mess up and there is another movie listed as on in it’s place. Once I read Howard Stern’s ‘Private Parts’ and Chevy Chase was very unhumorous and angry when Howie called him up. I never forgot that about Chevy Chase, so he always seems less funny to me somehow. Though Howard Stern does try people I’m sure. I would hang up on him, but I’m not a comedian. Perhaps Chevy Chase just didn’t take his happy pills that day. Perhaps he only dances for dollars. Perhaps Howard Stern shouldn’t bother people. Aaah well, Christmas vacation is a fun movie that has been overlooked by me until that radio announcer mentioned it. Perhaps I will add it to my list of musts. That kitty cat that gets fried by chewing on the Christmas lights, well I’m not looking forward to that bit, the poor wee thing. And the weird family that comes to visit in the RV, that would do me in Christmas wise, but Clark is a trooper isn’t he? Taking his life in his hands to put up a guhzillion outdoor Christmas lights and then that angst, oh the angst, as he plugs them in and they don’t come on! and then when they do come on the town has to turn on auxiliary nuclear power. And his poor wife saying ‘you always expect too much’.. my hubby is like that too, I strain and spend too much money every year trying to make his out of proportion Christmas dreams come true. I feel her pain. Yeah, it’s a good movie.

what’s with this movable type template? the posts show up ON TOP of the side bar. I mean you would think the DEFAULT template would be bug free by now. I paid good money for this. I mean suppose I just wanted to ‘tweak’ the default template. the silly thing isn’t working. I hate it when stuff doesn’t work out of the box. mostly coz I don’t know what I’m doing and I don’t know how to make it work.
I also found out that my posts don’t show up in my firefox browser. So that’s sad that I will have to ditch firefox. It was nice to not have a bunch of stuff always popping up while I browse. You also can’t export favorites in firefox and your saved favorites don’t show up in IE, bad bad. It’s very important to be able to save your favorites when you wipe out your hard drive every now and then. Sooo I guess it’s back to internet explorer.
There’s nothing on tv. I shouldn’t fault the world at large for being creatively challenged; I myself have 3 blogs and absolutely nothing to say. But I find it sad that the entertainment industry can’t keep ME entertained. I don’t ask for much, just a constant flow of sappy romantic comedies of the Meg Ryan/Julia Roberts variety. They are aging though. I’m sure we will never see another Meg Ryan, Tom Hanks movie like ‘Sleepless in Seattle’ or ‘You’ve Got Mail’. That fact makes me want to cry really. And what young stars can take their place? Indeed I find it safe to say that it is the end of an era. Goldie Hawn’s daughter is cute, but she makes me pine for Goldie Hawn herself.

well i tore down my collections photoblog because i’m going to start one here in movable type. it’s been quite the saga to try and accomplish this. first finding a new webhost, then finding a good blogging package.. just those two things took me weeks and nearly drove me to tears. now i got a rockin’ webhost and we’ll see about this movable type business, it kind of scares me. now i’m in the process of getting somebody to make templates for me, no easy thing let me tell you. finally mel from blog moxie saved the template day, said she would do it in 2 weeks. just working out the details now. it’s crazy out there i tell ya! if you can avoid it i recommend AGAINST finding new webhosts and blogging packages and trying to find someone to do templates for you in a pinch.
On a happy note our Christmas tree is up and it’s looking very pretty and matchy poopoo with the living room; especially lovely is the blue ribbon i scored last year in a boxing day sale of Christmas decorations. the blue ribbon really makes the tree. the decorations on the tree are either silver or the robin’s egg blue. i’m trying to get in the Christmas spirit and i’m watching all the holiday movies that are already on tv one after the other. ever notice how the holiday movies are on tv like crazy BEFORE Christmas, but then on Christmas eve or day there’s not a Christmas movie to be found? i figure it’s a conspiracy to make you buy the dvd’s hehe.
my to-do list for Christmas is as follows:
1. avoid spending quality time with family except for the obvious
2. avoid spending money on presents coz of recent expensive camera purchase
3. avoid eating Christmas goodies coz of diet
4. avoid buying yet another pair of flannel Christmas pajamas
gee.. what’s left?
I have a moth phobia and an aversion to sewing that I think come from watching 'The Silence of the Lambs' at an impressionable age.
